This year’s theme was “Writing the Next Chapter in Delta Heritage.” \n1:30 to 2:00 PM: Introduction and Update on the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta National Heritage Area (Video)\n Dr. Blake Roberts\, Delta Protection Commission\, provided details on the Forum and an update on NHA activities. \n2:00 to 2:30 PM:  Using the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA) to Protect Our Heritage\nVirginia Gardiner and Dan Ray\, Delta Protection Commission\, discussed how to protect the Delta’s heritage and historic resources using the National Historic Preservation Act. \n2:30 to 3:30 PM: Celebrating the American Spirit: Planning for America 250 (Video) \nThis workshop involved brainstorming potential events and activities to celebrate the 250th anniversary of America’s independence. The session opened with a short presentation on America 250 with Delta Leadership Program alumni Douglas Hsia and Morris Lum. \n3:45 to 4:45 PM: Panel on Contemporary Writing about the Delta \nLocal writers and historians talked about contemporary writing about the Delta and their paths to publication. DESCRIPTION:The Delta Protection Commission was created by the Delta Protection Act of 1992 (Act)\, codified in the Public Resources Code and most recently amended in November 2009. \nThe Act declared that the Delta is a natural resource of statewide\, national\, and international significance\, containing irreplaceable resources\, and that it is the policy of the State to recognize\, preserve\, and protect those resources of the Delta for the use and enjoyment of current and future generations\, in a manner that protects and enhances the unique values of the Delta as an evolving place. \nThe Commission is a forum for Delta residents to engage in decisions regarding actions to recognize and enhance the unique cultural\, recreational\, and agricultural resources of the Delta. DESCRIPTION:The Delta Protection Commission was created by the Delta Protection Act of 1992 (Act)\, codified in the Public Resources Code and most recently amended in November 2009. \nThe Act declared that the Delta is a natural resource of statewide\, national\, and international significance\, containing irreplaceable resources\, and that it is the policy of the State to recognize\, preserve\, and protect those resources of the Delta for the use and enjoyment of current and future generations\, in a manner that protects and enhances the unique values of the Delta as an evolving place. \nThe Commission is a forum for Delta residents to engage in decisions regarding actions to recognize and enhance the unique cultural\, recreational\, and agricultural resources of the Delta.
