SUMMARY:2021 Delta Heritage Forum
DESCRIPTION:The 2021 Delta Heritage Forum was a free event focused on the preparation of the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta National Heritage Area Management Plan\, efforts to preserve and tell Delta stories\, and opportunities for partnerships and collaboration. \n2:00 PM to 2:30 PM – Introduction and Update on the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta National Heritage Area (Video) \nDelta NHA Program Manager Blake Roberts gave participants an update on NHA activities and the current management plan process. \n2:30 PM to 3:30 PM – Heritage Adventures Workshop (Video) \nPlanning for the Delta NHA and the Great California Delta Trail seeks to raise awareness about and access to the region. This workshop developed potential adventures for visitors and explored the concept of adventure hubs – towns and places that serve as stopping points and gateways to different adventures. \n4:15 PM to 5:15 PM – Communicating the Stories of the Delta and Carquinez Strait (Video) \nJohn Muir coined the term “interpretation” to describe guided walks\, signs\, videos\, events\, and other techniques that help visitors develop a connection to a place or thing. This session discussed what is currently happening with interpretation in the region and identified needs. \n5:30 PM to 6:30 PM – Management Plan Public Workshop (Video) \nThis workshop presented the major action areas emerging from community outreach and engagement over the past year. Participants provided input on the proposed action areas\, discussed the role of the Delta NHA\, and identified potential partnerships. Outcomes from this session will inform the preparation of the management plan. \n6:45 PM to 7:15 PM – Lightning Talks \n\nThe Delta National Heritage Area – It’s for the Birds! – John Takekawa\, Suisun Resource Conservation District (Note: No video due to recording error.)\nHistory of Hood (Video) – Gia Moreno\, Hood Community Council\n\n  \nVisit the 2020 Delta Heritage Forum webpage for videos of last year’s lightning talks. \nMore information about the National Heritage Area can be found on the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta National Heritage Area webpage.
