Coast-to-Coast Relay Passes Through the Delta

LOCKE, Calif. (July 10, 2026) – The American Discovery 250 Relay – a 6,800-mile relay from California to Delaware commemorating the nation’s founding – passed through the Delta on July 8.

Over a dozen cyclists embarked on the 65-mile ride through the Delta cities of Antioch, Oakley, and Locke, and wrapped up in Sacramento, following the American Discovery Trail. The riders carried three batons with them, each containing a copy of the Declaration of Independence.

The Locke Foundation welcomed the cyclists for a lunch break and a tour of the historic town. From there, the riders pedaled up the river to Sacramento.

Erik Vink, former Executive Director of the Delta Protection Commission, participated in the relay, as did Minh Nguyen, 2026 alum of the Delta Leadership Program.
